چکیده
ABSTRACT: Bridges are structures built to overcome obstacles and allow continuity of transport routes. In the search for efficient construction systems, steel-concrete composite structures, especially box girder bridges, emerged. The American AASHTO European EN 1994-2-2 standards present design procedures this type bridge, but there still doubts about which portion concrete slab contributes each web strength in section (effective width). paper aims evaluate, by numerical analysis Abaqus® software, effective width verify whether expressions its calculation I-girder bridges valid sections. After analyzing results, it was found that recommendations cannot be applied directly girders. Finally, based on analysis, an equation proposed calculate bridges.

Composite Action during Construction of Steel Trapezoidal Box Girder Bridges (0-1898-2)
In steel trapezoidal box girder bridge systems, the U-shaped steel girder is designed to act compositely with the concrete deck to form a closed box for live loading. During the construction stage, however, the behavior is not well understood. The usual practice of assuming the system to be non-composite during construction requires substantial top flange bracing to form a quasi-closed box sect...
متن کاملEconomical Steel Plate Girder Bridges
As a service to the bridge design profession, Bethlehem Steel has conducted hundreds of studies of steel plate girder bridges using its Preliminary Bridge Girder Optimization Program. The program is unique because it optimizes plate girder designs on the basis of least cost, not least weight. An evaluation of many study results leads to a number of guidelines which are offered in this paper. Wh...
متن کاملExperimental and Numerical Investigation on Bending Capacity of Steel- concrete Composite Truss Girder
This article presents an experimental investigation on the bending capacity of steel-concrete composite truss girder (SCCTG). Four full-scale specimens named CB1, CB2a, CB2b and CB3 respectively, are tested and numerical analyzed. Stress distribution, load-displacement relationship, load-slip relationship and ultimate bending capacity of SCCTGs are investigated. The results show that SCCTG foll...
متن کاملPARAMETRIC STUDY: COST OPTIMIZATION OF NON-PRISMATIC REINFORCED CONCRETE BOX GIRDER BRIDGES WITH DIFFERENT NUMBER OF CELLS
In this paper the parametric study is carried out to investigate the effect of number of cells in optimal cost of the non-prismatic reinforced concrete (RC) box girder bridges. The variables are geometry of cross section, tapered length, concrete strength and reinforcement of the box girders and slabs that are obtained using ECBO metaheuristic algorithm. The design is based on AASHTO standard s...
متن کاملDevelopment of dynamic impact factor for performance evaluation of existing multi-girder concrete bridges
The dynamic effect of moving vehicles on bridges is generally treated as a dynamic load allowance (or dynamic impact factor) in many design codes. Due to the road surface deterioration of existing bridges, studies have shown that the calculated impact factors from field measurements could be higher than the values specified in design codes that mainly target at new bridge designs. This paper de...
